Talk to your Telco.

Australian Communications and Media Authority

CHALLENGES

Never before have Australians relied on telco services so heavily. But increased living costs and widespread financial losses due to the pandemic and recent natural disasters mean telco financial hardship programs and consumer protections are more important than ever.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority challenged Grindstone to empower consumers by raising awareness of the available supports, through a clear, coherent, consistent and compelling campaign.

STRATEGY

With a diverse audience from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, the messaging needed to be accessible, immediate and motivating. But perhaps even more importantly, the campaign would need to confront the stigma felt by marginalised people at their most vulnerable.

More than 240,000 Australians had their phone disconnected last year. We needed to communicate in a friendly and approachable manner that they are not alone, and there are processes in place to help them manage their payments and remain connected.

OUTCOMES

Grindstone delivered a full suite of campaign assets for ACMA to roll out across their own social platforms, and those of their partners. A compelling and easy to comprehend message supports video and static social assets along with print.

While we are still waiting for final performance data, the campaign has been positively received by both consumer advocacy groups and industry.

"The ACMA worked with Grindstone to develop a campaign to help Australians keep their phone and internet connection during times of financial hardship. The team were enthusiastic from the get-go and understood the seriousness and sensitivities of our brief. Grindstone were responsive, flexible and went above and beyond to deliver the creatives for our campaign, on time and within budget. It was a pleasure to work with the Grindstone team."
